least 2 years of Emergency Department experience for contract
labor. - Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC. - Strong
communication skills with patients and peers. - Strong assessment
skills. - Dependability and punctuality. - Strong critical thinking
skills. - Strong understanding of medical terminology. Description:
The Emergency Department houses 4 beds in a secure psychiatric area
for holding patients for placement. There are also 25 procedure
rooms and 8 hallway beds that are utilized around the clock. The
total number of staff in the department is 88, with various job
titles. Patient ratios are flexible, typically 4:1, allowing for
adjustments during acute surges. The department is equipped with
various technologies, including ultrasound, IV skills, Lucas
Device, hotline rapid infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis system. The
patient population includes those with multiple comorbidities,
including complicated heart conditions, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and
stroke. Typical procedures performed include trauma care, stroke
care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound, IV
insertion, IO insertion, eye exams, EKGs, and psychiatric care. We
seek motivated, hard-working individuals who are creative problem
solvers, with a general desire to care for patients. RN's are
expected to follow policy-written protocols based on chief
complaints. Staff are able to order work-ups for labs, EKGs,
x-rays, and medications to initiate patient care. Work hours
involve every other weekend for contract staff and every third
weekend for hired staff. This position requires strong adaptability
