Position Summary
The Global Quality Systems Director is responsible for driving the
global supplier base towards premium quality standards. This role
will set and deliver continuous improvement of the global supplier
base and quality of purchased parts along with set, report on,
monitor and improve Key Performance Metrics for all global
operations. They will set the global policy related to divisional
quality plans and initiatives. This role will be challenging and
often rewarding and involve product development, quality assurance
of global production lines and global on-site supplier quality
assessments.
Measures of success:
- Review and revise disparate quality systems to a comprehensive
and streamlined best-practice approach.
- Create a comprehensive KPI reporting system for all Taco Family
of Companies to adhere with on a monthly, quarterly, and annual
basis
- Standardize and improve global approved vendor list
- Review and revise global supplier quality manual -
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform quality assurance activities of purchased items within
projects/product scope, with the objective of monitoring and
guiding suppliers to define and establish processes that can
deliver parts according to the agreed contractual
specifications
- Manage a portfolio of global suppliers
- Liaise and manage the international quality relationships with
our global locations
- Manage global customer-based quality issues as they
arise
- Work cross-functionally in a multi-national environment,
perform initial failure analysis and, define initial 8D team for
global quality supply issues.
- Lead review of Control Plan, securing product and process
characteristics for global suppliers
- Promote best practices for automated process control, mistake
proof, automatic inspection, and segregation of defective parts in
production process when necessary
- Support the Quality Management organization, which includes
Quality Assurance and Systems with focus on the HVAC
industry.
- Evaluate the global supplier's development capability,
implementation and follow through of preventive supplier quality
initiatives through First Article Inspection (FAI) or Production
Part Approval Process (PPAP), allowing production to commence at
the supplier.
- Visit global vendor facilities to observe the manufacturing of
product and ensure the incorporation of total quality
management.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce
defect rates.
- Perform regular quality control audits to ensure global vendors
continue to work in compliance with company and state, federal and,
country standards.
- Work in conjunction with local supplier quality engineers and
incoming inspectors to review products and data from global vendors
to enforce quality.
- Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify
quality issues.
- Maintaining detailed reports on global supplier quality,
including defect rates and areas that require corrective
actions.
- Serve as a liaison between our company's senior management and
the global vendors to identify quality issues and
facilitate/provide solutions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering;
significant applicable experience is acceptable in lieu of
degree
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification in Quality
Management, Foundational Quality, Inspector/Technical, Engineering,
Six Sigma and/or Auditing
- 10+ years of quality management experience in manufacturing
environment
- Proven experience in manufacturing, quality control and
management
- Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance
skills.
- In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing
and engineering.
- Excellent working knowledge of quality control standards and
government compliance.
- Experience with manufacturing and production processes and
engineering principles.
- Ability to provide guidance to improve process
efficiency.
- Excellent communication and liaison skills.
- Continuous improvement and zero-defect mentality
- Ability to create networks, collaborate, and lead
cross-functional activities within multi-cultural teams
- Proficient in MS Office, Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP), ETQ or other Quality Management Software, Database
Management, etc.
- This position will require up to 50-75% domestic and
international travel
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or
related field
- Experienced in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)/ First
Article Inspection (FAI)/ Production Part Approval Process
(PPAP)
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment using
computers and technology. - Verbal and auditory capability are
required. Additionally, will have regular exposure in the
production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. -
Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position reports into the site every day. - May be able to
work from home on an ad hoc basis.
Management
This position has no direct reports.
