(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is
available to support K-12 students within a school district in the
Virginia Beach area. This opportunity involves working primarily
with elementary-aged students in one-on-one settings. Interpreters
are not limited to a single campus and may be called to assist at
multiple locations as needed, providing flexible coverage depending
on student presence. Key Responsibilities: Provide effective sign
language interpretation services for students ranging from
kindergarten through 12th grade. Facilitate communication using
American Sign Language (ASL) with a preference for Visaphonics as a
communication mode, though not mandatory. Support students in
various school settings, ensuring accessibility to classroom
instruction and activities. Collaborate with educational staff and
families to promote an inclusive learning environment. Adapt to
itinerant assignments across multiple campuses when necessary.
Qualifications: Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level
III certification is required. An Educational Interpreter
Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is preferred;
candidates with a score above 3.0 or a QAS score of 3 or better
will also be considered. Experience working with elementary-aged
children in an educational setting is an asset. Strong skills in
sign language interpretation, including the ability to support
various modes of communication. Position Details: Contract duration
through June 16th, with an immediate start. Full-time hours, Monday
through Friday, approximately 35 hours per week. Part-time,
itinerant opportunities may also be available. Assignment is onsite
within the Virginia Beach area. This role offers the chance to make
