Job Description:
Teaches undergraduate courses in Sociology focused on global
social problems, Middle Eastern, Latin American, or South Asian
societies, and related courses. Advises undergraduate students. Participates
in departmental activities such as program review and curriculum
development and fosters departmental efforts to enhance the teaching and
learning of sociology through technology, service learning, internships and
research opportunities. Assists in the department's concentration in
Global Studies and Social Justice. Education & Experience Requirements: PhD degree in Sociology or
related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 1
year of experience teaching global and comparative perspectives or
social justice perspectives Specific skills/other requirements – must possess 1 year of
experience in each of the following skills: (1) Leveraging instructional
technologies (such as Blackboard, digital syllabus, active learning
strategies, audio- visual resources, online discussions, and collaborations)
effectively in teaching; (2) Performing quantitative and qualitative research,
and publishing in peer-reviewed journals with a focus on global and
comparative perspectives; and, (3) Facilitating community-based research,
monitoring, and evaluation of social development programs focusing on social
