Job Description:

Early Intervention (EI) Billing Liaison is responsible for all billing entries into Electronic Health Record. Will monitor accuracy of billing codes and documentation. Will work directly with EI staff/families on billing questions and assist Finance Department to investigate issues with entries or insurance denials. Will support the administrative staff in EI and Finance Department along with EI Supervisory staff to resolve billing questions and issues related to insurance denials and to support ongoing quality. Will support EI administrative staff in assistive technology process.

Enters EI billing into Electronic Health Record, assessing for accuracy of codes and documentation, in accordance with most current RI Medical Assistance Claim Reimbursement Guidebook for Early Intervention Services.

Works in conjunction with EI and Finance staff to identify and investigate billing, insurance and claims issues.

Essential to assist with and prepare records for state or 3rd party billing audits.

Review EI electronic health record reports monthly with EI Director to analyze problem areas within the department and find solutions to improve upon authorized billing techniques.

Assists with filing, with primary responsibility for filing billing information into EI records.

Assists EI staff with Data Entry into Electronic Health Record.

Prepares reports as requested by EI Director.

Participates and reports during EI staff meetings (monthly).

Attends state EI Data meetings as requested.

All other duties assigned by the EI Director, his/her superior or the designee of either party.

Additional responsibilities:

Complete and maintain all agency and state required trainings.

Comply with all HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.

Actively promote and positively role model philosophy, mission and core values of the organization.

Basic knowledge of state regulations for Early Intervention services.

Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must possess proficient computer skills and the ability to navigate both EI electronic health record and Finance systems. Must be organized and have excellent multi-tasking skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Basic knowledge of insurance/3rd party billing terms.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs on occasion. Need to be able to sit, push, pull, grasp, carry, speak, and listen.
