CAPP mobilizes resources directed to eliminating poverty; and educating the public on poverty and community revitalization issues.Job Purpose:Energy Auditors are responsible for conducting comprehensive and precise residential home energy assessments in accordance with agency, utility, and Government standards. Energy Auditors are tasked with educating clients about how to make their homes safer and more energy-efficient.Reports to: Director of Energy & Housing Stability ProgramsSupervision of staff required: NoneJob Duties: Include the following

  • Conduct home energy audits in residential homes, entering attics, basements, crawl spaces, and living spaces.
  • Conduct combustion safety testing and infrared scanning to evaluate existing conditions and recommend energy efficiency improvements.
  • Install instant savings measures such as LEDs, smartstrips, and other energy-saving devices as defined by funders.
  • Complete detailed and accurate data collection and measurements and enter them into the Hancock Energy Software and other databases.
  • Interact with homeowners, tenants, and contractors regarding energy efficiency and prepare detailed and accurate work orders for each audit.
  • Promote and encourage the adoption of energy-saving measures recommended in the home energy assessment.
  • Conduct Post QCI Audits in compliance with Best Practices and WX Program Rules and Regulations

      • Must Possess Building Analyst (BPI) Certification.
      • Must possess, or be able to obtain, OSHA 10 Certification within six months of employment.
      • Must Possess Quality Control Inspector (QCI) Certification and must maintain certification for the duration of employment with CAPP
      • Must possess or be able to obtain an Energy Auditor (EA) Certification within six months of employment. Willing to support the right candidate in obtaining this certification.
      • Shall have or obtain a Heating Professionals Certification for the duration of employment at CAPP. Willing to support the right candidate in obtaining this certification.
      • Demonstrate comfortability working with diverse and low-income clientele
      • Able to read, write and communicate effectively
      • Ability to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; ability to climb and balance.
      • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate decimals and percentages; perform mathematical operations with fractions; compute discount, interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion; perform functions conducting geometric principles.
      • Ability to comprehend various reference books and manuals, including building codes, computer handbooks, topographical maps, building manuals, program manuals, estimating manuals, architectural drawings, etc.
      • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential employment, client and business information.
      • Ability to accurately record and deliver information, meet deadlines, and maintain restricted information confidentiality.
      • Ability to maintain complete organized and accurate files for all assigned tasks and program areas, ensuring that the files are in compliance with all Federal, State, and Agency guidelines and requirements.
      • Ability to attend required pieces of training
      • Ability to lift up to 50lbsLanguage Skills:
        • Required: Possess an excellent ability to speak and write in English to communicate information about the home energy assessment and its findings.
        • Preferred: Possess the ability to speak and write in Spanish and/or other languages. Not requiredComputer Skills:
          • Required: Computing skills required, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database entry and report generation.Reasoning Ability:
            • Required: Must have the ability to help customers sort through their home energy options. For example, convey to the client the options they have regarding energy use, carbon reduction, and the health and safety of the residents in the home.Job details:
              • Non-Exempt/Full-time hours 40 hours per week Monday Friday; 37.5 paid hours and 2.5 unpaid hours (.30-minutes daily for Lunch). With the flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.

              • $2,000 sign in bonus ($1,000 paid after three months of employment and $1,000 after the first year of employment if the candidate already has EA Certification at time of hire or $1,000 paid after six months of working with an EA certification earned through employment with CAPP)
              • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
              • May require a vehicle suitable to transport large weatherization equipment and tools (mileage will be compensated)
              • BCI - Background Criminal Check required
              • Salary Range: Starting at $50,000 with potential for increases for experience and holding required certifications
              • Full-time hours 37.5 hours Monday Friday
              • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
              • Must be able to wear required Personal Protection Equipment(PPE)
              • Must possess or be able to obtain an Energy Auditor (EA) Certification within six months of employment.
              • Although applicants with all certifications will be given preference, the agency is willing to support obtaining certain certifications during employment.
              • This position requires the person to be onsite - no telework allowed.
